Isode Adopts XML Security Policies
Isode have adopted the SMHS XML security policy encoding for their Security Policy, Security Label and Security Clearance infrastructure developed by Isode for use in their products.
They have adopted it alongside the SDN.801 format but also allow the XML format to be used to generate the SDN.801 format (which is used by the S/MIME Freeware Library).
The XML Security Policy is used to support:
- the generation of valid security labels;
- the Access Control Decision Function (ACDF); and
- the generation of an appropriate display string.
Isode have also augmented the policy schema to include features such as associating a colour with each classification - something that would be more difficult to do with an SDN.801 encoding.
SMHS are pleased to see this adoption of their freely-available security policy specification and are keen to encourage its further adoption.
